First Date Jitters

No matter how old you are or how many times you have dated in the past, first dates are always nerve-wracking.  First of all, you worry about what you’re going to wear.  You don’t want to appear too casual and yet you don’t want to look like you’re about to walk down the red carpet either.

Secondly, you worry about what you’re going to talk about.  You don’t want to seem like a miss-know-it-all but you also don’t want him to think that you’re dumb as an arse.  What if he finds your humor offensive or what if you find his offensive?  You want to say funny, witty stuff but you don’t want to overdo it either lest he thinks that everything’s a joke to you.

And there’s the matter of ordering.  What food will be good for a first date?  If you order a plate of salad, the leaves might get stuck between your teeth.  If you order meat or poultry, they might not be tender enough and you’d end-up chewing like crazy or worse, swallowing whole chunks just so you won’t have to spit it out on your napkin!

Finally, when it’s time to leave and he gets up to take your hand to assist you and then decides to keep holding your hand; if you pull away he might be offended and yet if you don’t he might think that this date could lead to something more.  If you want it to lead to something more, there’s probably no harm in letting him hold your hand.  However, if you don’t want a second date, what now?

Oh and one final question, if he attempts to kiss you what do you do?

******************************************************************************************************************

Hmm.. first of all, check where you’re going so you’ll know what to wear.  Secondly, be yourself during conversations.  If he doesn’t get impressed with how you are naturally, you don’t have to pretend to be somebody else just so you’ll give a good first impression.

As for the matter of ordering food, your best option would probably be pasta in light sauce.. not red sauce but perhaps in olive oil or something just as light so you won’t have any food coloring on your mouth.😀 If he holds your hand and you like it, let him.  If you don’t, pretend to get something from your purse which means you’ll need both hands to dig into your purse for your imaginary thing.😉

For that good night kiss, you might as well beat him to it and immediately plant a quick kiss on his cheek and then say goodbye.  This won’t give him time to maneuver and kiss you on the lips.

When all is said and done, your next worry is if he’s going to call after the date.  If you don’t like him, it won’t matter.  But if you do like him, you just have to play the waiting game.  One week should be enough.  After that, move on and go on another first date again.😉

P.S. You’d have better chances of enjoying your first date if you keep it casual.  Go out for coffee on your first date and then move-up to dinner on the second date if you like each other.😉

if the guy likes you, he won’t easily change his mind after a disastrous first date.😉
